Dragonfly on a Clothespin

I took this photo today while visiting Governor’s Island.  I saw the dragonfly sitting on a clothespin from quite a distance while we walked by one of the yellow officer’s houses.    I managed to get pretty close.  I’m usually just a point-and-click kind of guy, but am proud of how this turned out:

Some Pics from the Broadsides Reading

A wonderful evening at the Center for Book Arts last night where I had the honor of reading alongside Patricia Smith. Sharon Dolin gave insightful and spot-on introductions and everyone commented on what a perfect pairing Patricia and I made.  New friend Tom Healy summed up the sentiment quite well on my facebook wall today: Read More …

London, Part Seven

My last day in London I decided to stay on the West End and finally see the Frank Gehry structure I spotted on the drive in my first day. I wandered down to Hyde Park and entered via Marble Arch and Speakers Corner: Then across the Parade Ground where the brisk fall day created some Read More …

London, Part Six

My last night in London I met up with Paul at Tate Britain for “Late at the Tate” and dinner before the rest of the gang arrived. We used his membership ID to go into the exhibits in pairs and avoid paying for tickets (very clever) and I got to see the Turner Prize finalists Read More …

London, Part Five

It was First Thursday in London, so many of the galleries had previews and openings. I met up with Florent and company on Old Street in Shoreditch (sort of like the LES or Williamsburg in NYC with that pretentious hipster kid crowd that think they’re so deep and unique by all dressing alike in their Read More …

London, Part Four

Yummy and cheap. We went back to his place for coffee where I got to meet the lovely Margaret and her Read More …

London, Part Three

As I mentioned, the purpose of this little jaunt to London was for work, to visit my company’s new London Office and help train their Reception team. Here I am at 55 Baker Street: The building really is cool compared to the rather conservative architecture in the rather residential neighborhood surrounding it: Hello DESCO London! Read More …

London, Part Two

I was determined to see the Rothko exhibit, so after sleeping in I set off to wander Central London once more with the intent to slowly work my way back to the Tate Modern. I went down Regent Street this time with all its high end stores, hitting up Oxford and Piccadilly Circus, then detouring Read More …

London, Part One

I arrived at Heathrow in dense fog. As we descended into the white I imagined we would emerge on the other side, that we would see that strip of space between the earth and the underside of the clouds. So I was not ready for the touchdown, lurched a little in my pod-seat, marveled at Read More …
