My first NYC Ballet

Jon took me to my first NYC Ballet performance on this rainy cold June night and I enjoyed it immensely.  The first piece was “Glass Pieces” set to the music of Philip Glass with choreography by Jerome Robbins (all the pieces tonight featured his choreography).  I’m not really sure how to write about dance, but Read More …

Some Pics from the Broadsides Reading

A wonderful evening at the Center for Book Arts last night where I had the honor of reading alongside Patricia Smith. Sharon Dolin gave insightful and spot-on introductions and everyone commented on what a perfect pairing Patricia and I made.  New friend Tom Healy summed up the sentiment quite well on my facebook wall today: Read More …

Birthday!

I’ve had a great weekend heading into my birthday: starting Thursday night, wandering around the Chelsea art galleries with my new friend Jon and finding these amazing paintings at Axelle Fine Arts.  I’ll do a post on the artist soon, but we spent most of our time admiring the work and had a great conversation Read More …

I’ve been trying my hand at some reviewing the past couple weeks, in part to get over my fear of it. The fear still exists, and it’s far easier to write a review for a book I felt some connection with vs. one I didn’t, but I’m still finding my mind resists putting down in Read More …

Poem in Hobble Creek Review

“In the Shadow City…” is included in the new issue (Issue 2, Volume 3) of Hobble Creek Review. It’s a poem from my Impossible Gotham project. There are some great poets in this issue: Collin Kelly, Joe Milfold, Montgomery Maxton, Nanette Rayman Rivera and many others. Kudos to Justin Evans for putting such a fine issue together.
