I took this photo today while visiting Governor’s Island. I saw the dragonfly sitting on a clothespin from quite a distance while we walked by one of the yellow officer’s houses. I managed to get pretty close. I’m usually just a point-and-click kind of guy, but am proud of how this turned out:

as you should be – it’s hard to get macro shots of insects so sharply. well done. what camera did you use?
I’ll have to check my camera when I get home to see what kind it is. I’m sure it has all sorts of settings I don’t even know about. I just play with it when I’m out and about.
Oh, do you still have that poetry-related question? I’m all ears.
Matthew,
I adore the photo. So glad you captured that moment. Poet geek me was moved to poem. it’s called “weight”:
that you
could get
so close
wood spring
cotton myth
wings
& you
all complex
with intent
all you did
was snap
your shaker kin
would be proud
Thanks Kevin! I just checked out your site. Love your portfolio and the studies of the male body. Checking out your poems now…
Thanks, Matthew! Your anthology poem is deft, odd & challenging.
Only because we’re so close now:) : my ORIENT project: http://kck.st/aaglSv

Every wooden clothespin on my line has a dragonfly – does anyone know why they perch there? I found your page when trying to google for the answer to that question. Love your photo. I just took one myself and posted it on google+
That’s a great question. And a great opening for a poem!
